About Me

After a 20-year career in health-care with the University of Pennsylvania Health System, I wanted to get back to a job that I enjoyed.  I started a charitable company in India and lived there for a while.  In 2010 I returned to the United States and pursued opportunities in the banking business.  However, I liked selling cars and had a profitable career with luxury lines before I entered health-care.  Now my focus was reliability and value.  I started selling Honda’s at a dealership in Easton, Maryland.  Here everyone took me under their wings and taught me everything I needed to know to be successful after a 20-year hiatus.  I became Honda Sales Certified and helped many customers find reliable transportation.

In 2014 I got engaged to a wonderful woman and we planned to start our life together in Syracuse, New York.  Because I trusted Honda above all other brands, I decided that I wanted to take my business to the next level and become a trusted resource for this product in Central New York.  My managers and mentors in Easton, Maryland helped me in my quest to find a dealership that would allow me the opportunity to do all the things I wanted to do to build my business within a business.  I had several opportunities to work at many dealerships, however, Fox Honda is where I wanted to be.  I researched the owners, Bill and Jane Fox.  They were everything I was looking for in owners.  Bill was the current NADA president and Jane had successfully won many battles to become not only a multi-franchise dealer but also a woman-owned franchise owner.

On February 21, 2014 I interviewed for a manager’s position and was given the job.  I started at Fox Honda on February 23, 2014. After a few months in management, I was able to return to my passion… sales. I soon began working on my personal brand, Mike Columbus – Honda Sales Professional.  And I added some fun – Boom Shakalaka!  I have spent many hours studying SEO, Googleoply, and website design.  I wanted to bring my customers the very best in a website that enabled them not only to reach me, but to also reach an informed buying decision when it comes to the second costliest buying decision they will make.

I am thankful for Jane Fox and Beth Baroody who decided to hire me at Fox Honda.  I appreciate my managers that allow me to think out-of-the-box and mentor me.  I am glad to have found James A. Ziegler and others who provide me the fuel I need each and every day to succeed. And I am totally thankful to have met Danny Maynor of Car Salesman Inc who shared my vision of an awesome website and stepped up to build this incredible resource.

I value giving back to the community.  On January 1, 2016 I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Camillus Chamber of Commerce where I actively support the small businesses of Camillus, New York.
